China to add 390-440 kt/year butadiene capacity in H2.

Petrotahlil - China is looking to add 390,000-440,000 mt/year in butadiene capacity in the second half of this year as new butadiene plants are due to start up in that period, market sources said on July 3.

Sinochem Quanzhou is due to start up its new 120,000 mt/year butadiene unit in October, while Sinopec-KPC (Sinopec Zhongke) is due to start up its new 100,000-130,000 mt/year butadiene plant around that time.

In the second-half of this year, Liaoning Bora will start up its new 120,000-140,000 mt/year butadiene unit, while Wanhua Chemical will  start up its new 50,000 mt/year unit in the fourth quarter. 

Market sources said China’s butadiene supplies would increase in H2 as most butadiene units do not have immediate downstream expansions.
