September prices of European PVC rise for CIS markets.

Petrotahlil - Export prices for polyvinyl chloride (PVC) into the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) markets from Europe increased €30-40/tonne in September, according to ICIS-MRC Price report.

Price negotiations started at the beginning of the week and did not reflect the rollover in the ethylene contract price, which would have kept net PVC production costs stable on the previous month.

Scheduled and unscheduled plant shutdowns limited supply in Europe and globally strong demand for PVC pushed prices of material higher.

Demand for PVC from consumers in the CIS countries remained good due to the seasonal factors, and converters were forced to purchase some of their quantities in Europe.

Export sales to a number of regions, including the CIS markets have been limited for the past three months.

Overall, deals for September shipments of suspension polyvinyl chloride (SPVC) to the CIS markets were negotiated in the range of €705-750/tonne free carrier (FCA), whereas the previous month’s deals were discussed in the range of €665-720/tonne FCA.
