Petrotahlil - "In Burghausen, we are now additionally producing with the microsuspension process, which we have already successfully used at our Hillhouse site," said Vinnolit Managing Director Karl-Martin Schellerer. "Thanks to this technology, we can give our products very flexible, tailor-made processing properties, as they are particularly in demand in the manufacture of floor coverings, wallpapers and technical coatings."

Vinnolit completed a range of modernization measures as part of the expansion, including building new reactors and buildings for operations, as well as adding a new cooling water recycling system.

"Vinnolit has high standards for safety and environmental protection and it is a matter of course for us to operate our production facilities as energy-efficiently and resource-sparingly as possible and to continuously improve them," Vinnolit head of Environmental Affairs & Corporate Communications Oliver Mieden said.

The company has PVC production of around 780,000 mt/year at its three sites in Germany, according to sources familiar with its operations.

Vinnolit is a subsidiary of the US' Westlake Chemical and the Burghausen expansion was part of the parent company's coordinated plan for its operations in the US and Germany.

In November, the company said that output expansions at Westlake's facilities in Geismar, Louisiana, and Burghausen in Germany would add 340,195 mt/year of PVC.
