US propylene inventories retreat below 6 million barrels.

US domestic propylene inventories retreated by 200,000 barrels in the week that ended April 19, Energy Information Administration data showed Wednesday.

Nonfuel-use propylene inventories totaled 5.982 million barrels, the first week since late January that stocks were below 6 million barrels.

Though down on the week, inventories were up over 3.2 million barrels from the same week in 2018.

Sources have continued to say the domestic propylene market is long, with high availability weighing on trading interest.

April polymer-grade propylene was bid at 35 cents/lb Wednesday, up from the S&P Global Platts assessment at 34.25 cents/lb on Tuesday.

Refinery-grade propylene was bid at 24.50 cents/lb, up from an assessment of 24.25 cents/lb Tuesday.
