Turkey’s local PE market tacks on gains.

Petrotahlil - Turkey’s local PE market rose on a weekly basis, supported by the recent hike announcements from the local producer, Petkim. The increase also came on the heels of limited supplies for certain grades as well as rising localization costs after November hikes in the import market.

Domestic LDPE prices were assessed $20/ton firmer at $1390-1420/ton ex-warehouse Turkey, inc. VAT amid tighter availability. The notional HDPE film range also gained $10/ton and came in at $1260-1290/ton, in line with a few reports of delayed deliveries from Iran. Although there were mixed views on supply, LLDPE C4 film prices ended the week $20-30/ton higher at $1180-1220/ton.

The recent gains followed price hike announcements from Petkim, which started this week with a $30/ton increase for HDPE film. This was soon followed by a similar $30/ton hike for LDPE grades, bringing the total monthly hike to $60/ton for this specific grade.
