Iran’s Kaveh shuts methanol plant for two weeks.

Petrotahlil - Iranian producer Kaveh shut its 2.3m t/yr Dayyar unit on 10 November after weeks of struggling to stabilise production.

The outage is expected to last up to two weeks. The reasons for the unstable production and outage are unclear.

The company's November and December exports to China are expected to drop significantly as a result of the latest outage. Kaveh had expected to only ship 20,000t of methanol in November to China given unstable production rates, down from typical shipments of more than 100,000 t/month to China.

Other key methanol producers in Iran include Zagros, Fanavaran and Marjan.
