Large petrochemical complex to be launched in western Kazakhstan in 2021

Petrotahlil - The launch of an integrated gas chemical complex in the west of Kazakhstan in the Atyrau region is scheduled for 2021. The new complex will produce products of such grades of polypropylene as films and sheets, raffia sheets, fibers, fiber, cast film, the managing director for technology of Kazakhstan Petrochemical Industries (KPI), Bolat Abdualiev, said at the 7th international online conference “Oil refining and petrochemistry of the Caspian and Central Asia”.

“For example, homopolymer can be used to make components for cars, including seat parts, dashboards, air filter housings, fuel system elements and much more,” Abdualiev said.

The design capacity of the complex is 500,000 tonnes of products per year with the production of dozens of types of polypropylene grades required for the production of packaging materials, household goods, fibers, threads, medical products, pipes, furniture, etc.

According to the managing director, the construction of the project is 77% complete: design is completed, equipment delivery is 70% complete, construction and installation work is 46% complete.
