ETHYLENE PRICES EDGE LOWER IN ASIA ON MONDAY

Petrotahlil - On Monday, Ethylene prices were assessed lower in Asia. The price fall was supported by weaker upstream energy values and improved regional product availability.

CFR South East Asia prices were down at the USD 820/mt levels, a drop of USD 5/mt from last Friday's assessed levels.

CFR North East Asia ethylene prices were assessed lower at the USD 865/mt levels, a decline of USD 5/mt from last Friday.

In plant news, Idemitsu Kosan, is expected to restart its cracker by end-October 2020. The cracker was shut down for a maintenance turnaround on September 7, 2020.Located at Tokuyama, Japan, the cracker has an ethylene production capacity of 690,000 mt/year and propylene production capacity of 110,000 mt/year.

In other plant news, JG Summit Petrochemical Corp, has brought on-stream its Naphtha cracker on October 5, 2020 following an unplanned outage. The cracker was shut owing to technical issues caused by fire on September 25, 2020. Located in Batangas City, the Philippines, the cracker has an ethylene capacity of 320,000 mt/year and propylene capacity of 190,000 mt/year.
