In a letter to customers dated April 5, Celanese said the decision was "a result of recent events in the Gulf Coast."
Intercontinental Terminals Company's Deer Park, Texas, tank farm caught fire in March, snarling logistics around the area and disrupting some feedstock supply to chemical manufacturing.
The original company letter said the supply control would let Celanese maintain supply to contract customers and channel partners.
